Why It Matters
Laws Change.
Most People Never Find Out.
The Problem
You could be affected and not know it
EU Blue Card salary thresholds dropped in 2025. Work permit minimums jump to 90% of median in June 2026. Citizenship now requires 8 years and a language test. Permanent residency rules are being overhauled.
Most people hear about these changes months late — from a colleague, a forum post, or not at all. By then, opportunities are missed and deadlines have passed.
Common assumptions people make:
- "I don't earn enough for a Blue Card"
- "The rules haven't changed since I arrived"
- "My employer would tell me if something changed"
- "I have years before I need to think about citizenship"
The Solution
Settify tracks it for you
The Settify Companion App monitors legal changes across permits, residency, citizenship, taxes, and daily life — and cross-references them with your specific situation.
When something changes that affects you, you get a clear notification explaining what changed, what it means, and what to do next.
What Settify does differently:
- Monitors salary thresholds, permit rules, residency requirements, and tax deadlines
- Compares changes against your personal profile — salary, permit type, years in Sweden, family status
- Sends actionable alerts with next steps, not just news headlines
- Tracks personal deadlines — license exchange, SFI completion, permit renewal

Real Scenarios
What the App Tracks for You
These are real situations international professionals face in Sweden right now. The companion app monitors all of them and alerts you when action is needed.
Work Permit Salary Increase
The minimum salary for work permits rises from 80% to 90% of median. If your salary falls in between, you need to act before June 1 or risk denial on renewal.
EU Blue Card Eligibility
The threshold dropped from 1.5× to 1.25× average salary. Blue Cards now last up to 4 years and you can switch jobs with just a notification.
Permanent Residency Overhaul
Sweden is replacing the old 4-year path with stricter self-sufficiency and “integrity” requirements. The rules you read when you arrived may no longer apply.
Citizenship: 8 Years + Language Test
Residency requirement extended to 8 years. A Swedish language test and expanded civics test are being introduced. Start preparing early.
Driving License: 12-Month Deadline
Non-EEA licenses expire 12 months after folkbokföring. Booking a test takes months. Miss the window and you can’t drive legally.
SFI: New 3-Year Time Limit
Free Swedish courses (SFI) now have a 3-year maximum. Extensions are possible but not guaranteed. Track your progress and stay on schedule.
Tax Declaration Deadlines
Submit by April 2 for early refund. Set up Kivra by March 1. First-time filers often miss ROT/RUT deductions worth thousands of SEK.
Pension: Your Money Is Growing
18.5% of your income goes to Swedish pension automatically. Most newcomers never check their PPM fund choice or tjänstepension terms. Log into minPension.se.
Insurance Gap Before Personnummer
Between arrival and getting your personnummer, you may not be covered by Swedish healthcare. Private insurance or the new mandatory health insurance requirement (June 2026) fills the gap.
